Earlier this year, I attempted to run the Houston Marathon. I admit that my planning didn’t go as well as I had wanted. My training wasn’t great and neither was my nutrition. So when I got to mile 8 I was having leg cramps and had to switch to the half-marathon course. But completing running a marathon is one of my goals and I’ve regrouped and you all can follow my journey.
I did finish the half, even if I feel like I limped miles 11 & 12. Those two miles were excrutiating. But my mindset has changed, I am actively working on my nutrition and going to follow my plan and make sure that I am cross-training.
And above else make sure that my nutrition is on point, I don’t have those leg cramps anymore.
To start, I’ve got my marathon training plan ready to go. In fact this morning, I am getting ready for my first long run of the plan. Which is only a 5k, but it is a start. For my running a marathon cross-training, I will be taking Les Mills Body Pump and Zumba classes at my local gym. I chose those because I don’t have to think about what I am going to do and I can just show up. I’m also super excited about the Zumba classes because I know that they work for my fitness goals. They help my body not get injured, build my endurance and most of all keep my body from becoming stiff. Which is something that happens a lot to me if I just run.
Starting today, I will be posting TikTok videos on my TikTok channel about my journey. It is my way to hold myself accountable to the process to accomplish my goal. And of course my Run Life 365 Instagram Reels.
Also, during my marathon training I am raising money for the Houston Astros Foundation, my goal is $500 and you can support me on the Chevron Houston Marathon site here.
I will also be posting more about my nutrition plans and weekly blog entries and more often videos of my progress.
