*I want to preface to say that I am by no means a nutrition or diet expert. This is just my experience with the boiled egg diet.
Recently a coworker and I started talking about dieting. We had both discussed going Keto, but we also thought about hey let’s kickstart our weight loss by trying this boiled egg diet that we kept finding online. There were many websites that made claims that you could lose up to 20lbs in the two weeks.
Yes, you read that right 20lbs in two weeks.
Honestly, I’m not even sure how healthy that is, and my whole purpose in dieting is to make myself eat better and help with my energy levels. Needless to say, I need to fuel my body better, but it’s hard to do when you eat like a cross between a long haul trucker and a 13-year-old boy. Yes, pizza, hamburgers, and tacos are staples of my diet. My kids love me for it, my body not so much. And before you criticize, yes they eat their veggies.
So after very little thought, I tried the Boiled Egg Diet.
So now I will give you guys a rundown of the four days that I tried it. Also, for your curiosity here is a link to the pin of the Boiled Egg Diet that I chose.
Day 1: I followed it pretty well, and honestly drank so much water and thought my stomach may start eating the other parts of my body. I did not work out this day.
Day 2: I persevered and kept on going. I ate a little more fruit. Again I refrained from exercise. I was still so hungry that I was borderline hangry and thought my neighbors chicken might make a good meal.
Day 3: At least this day I was distracted by work. And it was a bit more bearable. I can’t remember why but I didn’t make it out to the gym. And honestly, it’s very rare for me to go that long without exercise. I had things going on and my stomach was about to leave me because it was not getting what it wanted.
Day 4: I made it through the workday again, with a bit of complaining to my coworker, who was honestly doing a lot better than I was. That night I went to the gym shortly after work. I did a HIIT workout combined with some time on the elliptical. I immediately went to the store and bought a pizza.
My stomach demanded the pizza sacrifice.
It was like my body demanded those delicious carbs and I wasn’t going to have the energy for life until it was done. I honestly felt like I was going to puke after my workout. And I never do that, I am one of those people that can eat a meal and thirty minutes later go to a full-blown roller derby practice and never even consider throwing up.
So that is how I failed the Boiled Egg Diet, with a workout and pizza. I think it is great that I lasted four days, but from the way, I felt I don’t believe that diet is conducive to an active lifestyle. I just don’t think it gives your body enough fuel. And I’m sure it does work for some people, but I would maybe assume those people aren’t very active. And I as I said, I assume. I don’t know for sure. Do you exercise and have done this diet? Did it work?
My goal though is not to give up completely on integrating a diet with my exercise routine, it’s to find something that works for me. And when I do find that thing whether it be Keto or something that balances all the things I like better with healthier options, I will be sharing it with you guys. And it will definitely be something that works for marathon training, which I am in the middle of.
