For a while, I’ve been obsessing over the Nike Vaporfly 4%. I’m talking drooling over them, I’ve just never been in a place to pay for the $250 price tag. But I’ve always heard really awesome things about them. And I’ve got a goal in mind and once I accomplish it–those pretties will b mine. But for now, I am running with the Nike Zoom Fly Flyknit Running Shoes.
I love my Nike Zoom Fly Flyknits
But first I had to find the right size, and let me tell you! GO UP A SIZE. My normal shoe size is an 8.5 (US women’s size) so I had to go up to a 9.5. I will tell you guys why!
My first rookie mistake was that I ordered them online and went and picked them. At the store, they fit like a glove. Which in everyday shoes would be a-okay. But not in running shoes. Because what happens when you run a few miles?
Your feet swell!
And of course I didn’t even think about this, heaven forbid my precious dainty (snort…there is nothing dainty about my feet) feet swell. But well I grabbed my shoes and went home and two days later went out on a 10-mile run!
Yeah, I went 10 miles for the first time in a brand new pair of shoes. Occasionally I make bad decisions.
At the end of that run, there was blisters and blood. Lots and lots of blood. Mostly around my heel and the bank of my ankle. It was painful and of course, I was so upset about my new pair of shoes. I had had such high hopes for them. So I was able to take them back to the store and exchange for a size larger.
After that and of course a week of healing on my feet. I was able to get back out there. The Nike Zoom Fly Flyknits are lightweight, not too crazy expensive, and of course, make you feel like you are running on air. I’ve put well over 200 miles on them now and they still look great and I’m pretty sure I will be getting a second pair when it comes time. I would definitely recommend them to anyone who is looking at marathon training or any long-distance run. They are definitely fitting my needs, wearing well and staying in great shape during my marathon training round.
I will definitely be posting an update after I run the Houston Marathon in January.
